Product Description

Ensure Plus is a 1.5 kcal/ml, ready-to-drink, milkshake-style oral nutritional supplement for people with, or at risk of developing, disease-related malnutrition. Ensure Plus milkshake style is available in a wide range of delicious flavours. These are banana, chocolate, coffee, fruits of the forest, neutral, peach, strawberry and vanilla. Ensure Plus milkshake style is presented in a 200ml bottle with a peel-off seal for pouring.

Ensure Plus Vanilla Milkshake can be taken as a sole source of nutrition or in combination with food and drink to gain and/or maintain a healthy weight. The Ensure Plus range includes 18 milkshake flavours, enriched in vitamins and minerals, introducing over 300 calories per Ensure Plus drink to provide maximum dietary nutrition and healthy weight gain.

Uses

Food for Special Medical Purposes, for use under medical supervision. Suitable as a nutritional supplement or as a sole source of nutrition for patients who cannot or will not eat sufficient quantities of everyday food and drink to meet their nutritional requirements.

PREPARATION

Ensure Plus milkshake style is best served chilled and can be frozen into cubes and lollipops. Coffee and chocolate flavours also taste great when warmed and served as a hot drink. The neutral flavour can be flavoured with milkshake powder, coffee or cocoa. It can also be mixed with packet soup, or used instead of milk in drinks, breakfast cereals and puddings. Ensure Plus milkshake style should never be boiled however, as this can destroy some of the much-needed nutrients.

Precautions

• In patients receiving some medications there may be a risk of drug nutrient interactions. Careful prescribing and monitoring practices will serve to reduce the risk (please refer to pharmacist).

• Do not make any additions to the feed without consulting your pharmacist or dietitian.
• Many nutritional products contain sucrose and other sugars. It is important for patients who are taking supplements as sip feeds to observe good oral hygiene. It is suggested that patients consult with their dentist for further advice.
• When feeding to patients with dysphagia, please thicken the product as appropriate.

Contra-Indications

• Not for parenteral (intravenous) use.
• Do not use in children under 1 year of age. Use with caution in children under 6 years of age.
• Not for use in galactosaemia.
• Suitable for people with diabetes provided that routine glucose checks are performed.


Ingredients:

Water, maltodextrin, hydrolysed corn starch, milk proteins, sucrose, vegetable oils (canola, corn), minerals (sodium citrate, potassium citrate, magnesium chloride, potassium chloride, magnesium phosphate dibasic, calcium phosphate tribasic, potassium phosphate dibasic, ferrous sulphate, zinc sulphate, manganese sulphate, cupric sulphate, sodium molybdate, potassium iodide, chromium chloride, sodium selenate), soy protein isolate, flavourings, stabilisers (E460, E466, E418), emulsifier: soy lecithin, choline chloride, vitamins (C, E, niacinamide, calcium pantothenate, B6, B1, B2, vitamin A palmitate, beta carotene, folic acid, K1, biotin, D3, B12).
